Moldova has expressed its readiness to join the so-called “coalition of the willing” — an informal group of more than 30 countries providing military and logistical support to Ukraine. The announcement was made by President Maia Sandu following a meeting of the Supreme Security Council.

According to Sandu, Moldova is already contributing to Ukraine’s efforts, including by organizing training programs for demining specialists. The country is now considering the possibility of deploying its sappers to assist with the clearance of Ukrainian territories after the war ends.

The president emphasized that such cooperation does not contradict Moldova’s constitutionally enshrined neutral status. She noted that participation in humanitarian and technical initiatives, particularly in the field of security and post-war recovery, does not involve engagement in combat operations.

At the same time, Moldova’s formal accession to the coalition will require approval from existing member states. A decision is expected to be made within the coming weeks or, at most, within approximately two months.

The move is seen as a significant step toward strengthening regional cooperation and demonstrating solidarity with Ukraine, particularly in the context of future reconstruction and humanitarian demining efforts.
