A court in Cherkasy sentenced the administrator of Telegram groups about CCC routes

The Prydniprovskyi District Court of the city of Cherkasy found guilty a local resident who administered eight Telegram groups, where information was distributed about the locations of mobilization events, routes of employees of territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCC and SP), as well as law enforcement officers.

The information was hidden under the “weather forecast”

As the court established in case No. 711/1263/25, from mid-October to mid-December 2024, messages about the exact time and places of work of representatives of the TCC and police in various settlements of the Cherkasy region were regularly published in Telegram communities.

To mask the content of the messages, conditional symbols related to the weather were used: “rain”, “thunderstorm”, “cloudy”, “sun”, “dry”, as well as the corresponding emojis.

Law enforcement officers documented 32 episodes of the dissemination of such information in Uman, Smila, Kaniv, Zolotonosh, Shpol, Horodyshche, Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi and Chornobay.

Court: Administrator could have deleted the message, but did not do so

During the consideration of the case, the court established that the administrator had the technical ability to delete the message, block users or restrict the dissemination of information, but did not do so deliberately.

According to the court, the activities of Telegram groups contributed to the evasion of conscripts from mobilization measures, hindered the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and created conditions for evading military service during a special period.

The accused fully admitted his guilt and entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor.

What sentence did the court impose

The court sentenced the man to five years in prison, but released him from serving the sentence with a probationary period of three years.

In addition, the court ruled to confiscate the iPhone 15 Pro Max with SIM cards, which was used to administer Telegram groups, as state revenue.

The court’s decision was made within the framework of criminal proceedings regarding obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period.
