A social welfare official in the Svyatoshyn district was suspected of overpaying more than UAH 1 million for the purchase of diapers

The Metropolitan Police reported on suspicion of an official of the Territorial Center for Social Services of the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, who is suspected of abuse during the public procurement of care products.

According to the investigation, in August 2025, the official organized a tender for the purchase of diapers and other care products for babies and bedridden patients for an amount of more than 10.4 million UAH. At the same time, according to law enforcement officers, she was aware of the discrepancy between the set prices and the market prices, but ensured that the purchase was carried out on terms that were unfavorable for the municipal institution.

As a result of such actions, according to preliminary estimates, the losses for the institution and the city budget amounted to about 1 million UAH.

The Kyiv Police reported on the presentation of a suspicious letter to the official. She is accused of violating the legislation in the field of public procurement, which led to significant material losses.

The sanction of the incriminated article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions.

Law enforcement officers emphasize that a pre-trial investigation is underway, during which all circumstances of possible abuses and the persons involved are being established.
