New stage of the state program
425 internally displaced persons have been identified in Ukraine who have become participants in the “Housing for IDPs” program and will be able to take advantage of preferential mortgage lending. The selection took place within the 25th stage of the program using an open computer sample with the participation of international partners. The Ministry of Development and Reform reported this.
Lending conditions
The program provides for affordable financial conditions: the rate is only 3% per annum, and the loan term is up to 30 years. At the same time, restrictions have been set on the area of housing – up to 52.5 m² for families of 1-2 people with an additional 21 m² for each subsequent family member.
International support
The initiative is financed, in particular, with the participation of the International Organization for Migration, which has already provided the first tranche of 7.5 million euros. The total amount of financing under the relevant agreement is 33 million euros, which allows the program to be expanded and cover more participants.
Geography and opportunities
The largest number of selected candidates is in Kyiv and Kyiv region, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa and Cherkasy regions. Program participants can purchase housing in any region of Ukraine, except for temporarily occupied territories and zones of active hostilities.
Revolving mechanism as a development tool
A feature of the program is its revolving mechanism: funds returned under loans are used to finance new loans. This creates a long-term model of supporting the housing needs of IDPs and contributes to the gradual expansion of access to housing
