In the Principality of Monaco, on the evening of June 29, a powerful explosion occurred near a residential building, as a result of which a Ukrainian family was injured. Among the injured is Dnipro businessman Vadym Yermolaev and his wife. Both are in critical condition.
This was reported by French media with reference to local authorities and sources in business circles.
The incident occurred at around 9:00 p.m. on Rue Reverend-Perret-Louis-Frolla near the border with France. According to official information from the Monaco government, at least three people were seriously injured.
According to local media, all the injured are members of the same Ukrainian family. They are a couple aged 50-60 and a 13-year-old teenager. The adults were hospitalized in a hospital in Nice, the child – in a specialized medical facility.
Law enforcement officers have already established that shortly before the explosion, an unknown man left a backpack at the entrance to the building and fled in the direction of the French city of Beausoleil. The explosion occurred at the very moment when people were entering the building.
The prosecutor of Monaco confirmed that two victims are in critical condition. Sappers, forensic experts and investigators are working at the scene. The authorities do not rule out the version of a terrorist attack.
The head of the government of Monaco stated that, according to preliminary data, the explosive device was stuffed with metal elements to enhance the damage.
Vadim Yermolaev is the founder of the Aleph corporation and one of the well-known developers of the Dnipro. In 2019, he renounced Ukrainian citizenship and received a Cypriot passport. In 2023, sanctions were imposed against him by a decision of the National Security and Defense Council due to business activity in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
The investigation is currently investigating whether the explosion was directed specifically against the Ukrainian family, or whether they were accidental victims of the attack.
