BEB exposed large-scale production of counterfeits of famous brands: goods and equipment worth over UAH 50 million were seized

In Mykolaiv, a large-scale production of counterfeit clothing was uncovered, which was sold under the guise of products of famous world brands. The value of the seized goods and equipment exceeds UAH 50 million.
This was reported by the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the organizer established a full cycle of manufacturing and selling counterfeit products. For this purpose, warehouses were rented in Mykolaiv, where production workshops were equipped and almost 130 units of special equipment were installed.
Logos of famous trademarks were illegally applied to clothing. Finished products were stored in warehouses, and then supplied in large batches to retail outlets in various regions of Ukraine. Counterfeit goods were sold both wholesale and retail, in particular at the “7th kilometer” market in the Odessa region.
During the primary investigative actions, law enforcement officers discovered more than 60 thousand units of counterfeit clothing prepared for sale. The examination established that the illegal use of trademarks caused their right holders more than 11 million UAH of losses.
During repeated searches in Mykolaiv and Odessa region, more than 360 thousand units of products were additionally seized. Among them are sports shoes, underwear, hats, socks and other textile products with the designations of Nike, Adidas, Puma, Gucci, Versace, Lacoste, Armani, Hugo Boss, Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and other brands.
Law enforcement officers also seized another 28 units of equipment. The total value of the seized products and equipment in the BEB is estimated at more than 50 million UAH.
The organizer was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal use of a mark for goods and services, a company name and a qualified indication of the origin of goods, which caused material damage in an especially large amount.
Currently, investigators are identifying the full range of individuals who may have been involved in the production, supply, and sale of counterfeit goods.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
