Bought a driver’s license online? The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned of criminal liability

Ukrainians are warned against purchasing driver’s licenses over the Internet. Such documents have no legal force, are not entered into state registers and may become grounds for criminal liability. This was reminded in the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Fake licenses do not enter state registers

The service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs note that they regularly receive applications from citizens who ask to enter into the state register or renew driver’s licenses purchased over the Internet. However, during the inspection it turns out that such documents are fake.

Specialists verify the data with state registers and often establish that the series and number of the license belong to another person, information about its issuance is missing, or the specified unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has never issued such a document.

If signs of forgery are detected, all materials are transferred to law enforcement agencies for verification.

Why the license is not displayed in “Diya”

Fake driver’s licenses are not displayed in the “Diya” application or the Driver’s Cabinet, since information about them is missing in the Unified State Register.

It is because of this that owners of fake documents often turn to service centers, hoping to “add” the license to electronic services. However, this is impossible to do, because the document actually does not exist in the official database.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges not to publish licenses on social networks

Separately, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Cyber ​​Police, urges drivers not to post photos of their licenses in the public domain.

Fraudsters can use personal data to produce fake documents or other illegal schemes. If you want to share the receipt of a license, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends hiding or blurring the last name, first name, series, document number and date of issue.

How to check the authenticity of the license

You can check the validity of a Ukrainian driver’s license on the official service of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. To do this, it is enough to enter the series and number of the document.

After checking, the system will show the date of issue of the license, open categories of vehicles and its current status.

At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs draws attention to the fact that lifelong driver’s licenses issued before 2013 may not be displayed in modern electronic registers. In this case, the owner must exchange the document at any service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after which the license will become available in “Diya” and the Driver’s Cabinet.

How to get a driver’s license legally

Service centers emphasize that there is only one legal way to get a driver’s license. The candidate must undergo a medical examination, pass a theoretical exam, complete training at an accredited driving school and successfully pass a practical exam.

Only after completing all the procedures prescribed by law is the license issued personally to the owner, and information about him is entered into state registers.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that any offers on the Internet to obtain a driver’s license without training, passing exams, or personal presence are fraudulent and can have serious legal consequences for the buyer.
