Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s youngest daughter wants to officially drop her father’s last name

Vivienne, 18, the youngest daughter of Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has filed a lawsuit to officially change her last name. She wants to drop her father’s last name and keep only her mother’s.

According to People, Vivienne filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court asking to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The reason for the name change is “personal circumstances.”

The court hearing in this case is scheduled for November 2.

This is not the first child to drop Pitt’s last name

In fact, Vivienne already uses only her mother’s last name. In May 2024, she was listed as Vivienne Jolie in the program of the Broadway production of The Outsiders, on which she worked with Angelina Jolie.

She is the fourth of six children to have decided to drop her father’s surname.

Shiloh officially changed her last name in 2024. Zahara also filed a lawsuit to change her name to Zahara Marley Jolie, and Maddox is seeking to officially become Maddox Chivan Jolie. Their applications are currently pending.

Amid a long-standing family conflict

Vivien and her twin brother Knox were born in July 2008 and are the youngest children of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

The children’s decision to drop their father’s surname is linked to a long-standing conflict in the family after the actors’ high-profile divorce in 2016. The legal process between Jolie and Pitt lasted almost eight years and ended only at the end of 2024.

During this time, there have been repeated reports of Brad Pitt’s strained relationship with most of his children, which was likely one of the reasons for their desire to officially drop his last name.
