Competition for the Constitutional Court: The Council of Judges has identified candidates and is launching special checks

Representatives of the judiciary, science and legal practice admitted to the selection

The Council of Judges of Ukraine established the compliance of candidates for the positions of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine with the requirements of the legislation and admitted them to further competitive selection.

The results of the consideration of documents were reported by the Head of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Vitaliy Salikhov. The selection is carried out according to the updated procedure, which provides for checking candidates for compliance with the criteria specified by the Constitution of Ukraine and the Law “On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine”.

Representatives of various spheres of legal activity are admitted to the competition – judges, scientists and practicing lawyers.

Who is applying for the positions of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

Among the candidates:

Lesya Balayeva – Chief Legal Advisor;

Nataliya Dzibiy-Polyachok – Lecturer of the specialized department;
Oleg Ihnatiuk – Judge of the Kyiv Court of Appeal, Professor;

Svitlana Muzychko – Judge of the Kyiv Court of Appeal;
Larisa Rogach — Head of the Cassation Economic Court of the Supreme Court;
Andriy Savchak — judge of the district court;
Petro Salyuk — judge of the administrative court, associate professor;
Mykhailo Smokovich — judge of the Cassation Administrative Court of the Supreme Court;
Serhiy Solotkyi — military officer, former scientific consultant of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine;
Oksana Tsmokalenko — lawyer.

Next stages of selection

According to the procedure, in the near future the Council of Judges of Ukraine will:

publish the autobiographies and motivation letters of candidates on the official website;
initiate a special check in accordance with anti-corruption legislation.

After the completion of the special checks, their results will be transferred to the Advisory Group of Experts (AGEE), which will evaluate the candidates according to the criteria of professional competence and high moral qualities.

Thus, the competition for the Constitutional Court moves to the next stage, which should identify the most qualified candidates for key positions in the constitutional justice system of Ukraine.
