By the end of the summer, Ukrainians may be able to officially dissolve their marriage online through the Diya application. Currently, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, are preparing beta testing of the new service.

According to Deputy Minister of Justice Olga Ryabukha, the testing will start approximately in two weeks and will last about a month. About 250 couples will take part in it. Only adult citizens of Ukraine who do not have minor children together will be able to use the service.

The procedure will include submitting an application through the application, checking documents, signing using “Diya.Signature”, paying an administrative fee and a mandatory waiting period of 31 days. After that, the parties will hold a video conference with the state registrar to confirm the voluntariness of the decision.

The Ministry of Justice emphasizes that the new mechanism legally fully corresponds to the offline procedure through the DRACS and guarantees the protection of the rights of both parties. If at least one of the spouses changes their mind, the divorce process will be stopped.
