Estonia will allocate 340 thousand euros to Ukraine to prepare frontline regions for winter

Estonia will allocate 340 thousand euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine to prepare residents of frontline regions for the upcoming winter period. The funds will be used to support internally displaced persons, help households and equip mobile SES points.

This was reported by ERR with reference to the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Six regions will receive assistance

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stressed that Russia continues to use cold and darkness as a tool of war, trying to weaken the resistance of Ukrainians in this way.

Humanitarian projects will be implemented through partner NGOs in Estonia.

The total amount of aid will be distributed in three areas.

160 thousand euros will be used to equip and improve the energy efficiency of 13 centers for accommodating internally displaced persons in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.

Another 160 thousand euros are provided to support households in front-line areas of Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions.

The remaining 20 thousand euros will be used to purchase specialized equipment for two mobile emergency aid and heating points of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Ukraine is preparing for another difficult winter

The assistance should strengthen the readiness of front-line communities for the winter period, especially in conditions of constant threat of Russian strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure.

The main emphasis will be on supporting the most vulnerable citizens and providing the necessary conditions for the residences of displaced persons to survive the cold season.

Estonia has remained one of Ukraine’s partners since the beginning of the full-scale war, providing military, humanitarian and other support.
