The former director of one of the state-owned agricultural enterprises of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine will be tried for illegal appropriation of the enterprise’s funds in favor of a private company. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, the state-owned enterprise transferred more than 1 million hryvnias for grain storage services, which at that time had already been sold to another entrepreneur.

How the scheme worked

Investigators established that in August 2022, the agricultural enterprise transferred more than 1,370 tons of winter wheat to a private company for storage. Two months later, the grain was officially sold to another business entity, which was confirmed by all parties to the transaction.

Despite this, at the end of 2024, the storage company filed a lawsuit with the court demanding to recover more than 1 million hryvnias for allegedly unpaid storage services.

The prosecutor’s office notes that the actual debt amounted to about 200 thousand hryvnias.

The director admitted the claim, knowing about the discrepancy in the amount

According to the investigation, the then director of the state-owned enterprise was aware of the real amount of the debt, but admitted the claim and signed a settlement agreement on behalf of the enterprise.

After that, a private company was transferred more than 1 million hryvnias for storing grain that no longer belonged to the state-owned enterprise.

As a result of such actions, according to law enforcement officials, the state suffered losses of more than 800 thousand hryvnias.

The case was transferred to court

The indictment against the former manager has already been sent to court.

He is charged with large-scale misappropriation of property by abuse of official position, committed during martial law.
