Former head of the Trade Center to be tried for purchasing pickup trucks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at inflated prices

The former head of one of the territorial centers for procurement and social support in the Rivne region will be tried for purchasing cars for the military at inflated prices. According to the investigation, the losses to the state budget exceeded 830 thousand hryvnias.

This was reported by the Rivne Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Western Region.

The official is accused of negligent attitude to military service, which led to serious consequences. These are the events of April-June 2023, when the suspect, while serving as the head of the TCK, concluded contracts for the purchase of 16 pickup trucks for the needs of military units.

Investigation: market prices were not checked

According to the investigation, the official did not ensure a proper check of the market value of the cars, did not instruct his subordinates to conduct a price analysis, and did not monitor the compliance of the purchase with the requirements of the legislation in the field of defense procurement.

As a result, the transport was purchased at an inflated cost, and the profit of the supplier company was unreasonably included in the price.

Law enforcement officers believe that it was due to official negligence that the state budget suffered losses of more than 830 thousand hryvnias.

In March 2026, the former head of the CCC was informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the indictment has already been submitted to the court.

This is not the first criminal proceedings

The prosecutor’s office notes that this is not the first case against this official.

Previously, law enforcement officers have already sent indictments to the court under articles on abuse of power, obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and illegal enrichment.

Currently, the former head of the CCC is in custody.

Violations in military procurement are increasingly being recorded

Recently, law enforcement agencies have been increasingly reporting abuses in the field of military procurement.

In particular, in Transcarpathia, the head of one of the CCK supply departments is suspected of approving the purchase of fuel with an overpayment of almost 900 thousand hryvnias due to the unjustified inclusion of VAT.

And in the Lviv region, a former officer of a military unit was caught purchasing bottled water at prices significantly exceeding market prices. According to investigators, this caused the state about one million hryvnias in losses.
