The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has decided to significantly reduce the bail amount for the People’s Deputy, leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko. Instead of over 33 million hryvnias, the bail amount is now 266 thousand hryvnias.

The bail amount has been reduced by more than 125 times

On October 26, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court considered Yulia Tymoshenko’s petition to change the preventive measure.

The politician personally applied to the court with a request to reduce the bail amount from 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias to 266 thousand 240 hryvnias.

Judge Oleg Tkachenko granted the relevant petition.

Thus, the bail amount has been reduced by 33 million 13 thousand 760 hryvnias, or approximately 125 times.

The funds previously deposited as bail in excess of the new amount established by the court must be returned to the bailors.

Recall that on January 23, the full amount of bail was paid for Yulia Tymoshenko — UAH 33.28 million.

What is Yulia Tymoshenko suspected of

In January 2026, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported the exposure of the head of one of the parliamentary factions in an alleged corruption offense.

According to the investigation, it was about offering an illegal benefit to people’s deputies from other parliamentary factions for voting on specific draft laws.

Preliminary legal qualification — Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns the offer, promise or provision of an illegal benefit to an official.

Later, it became known that the case concerns Yulia Tymoshenko.

NABU also published audio recordings in which, according to law enforcement officers, the voting payment system in the Verkhovna Rada is discussed.

Tymoshenko denies the charges

Yulia Tymoshenko has repeatedly stated that she rejects all charges.

The politician confirmed that searches were conducted at the Batkivshchyna party office, but questioned the legality of the law enforcement officers’ actions.

In particular, she claimed that the searches began on the evening of January 13, when she was alone in the premises.

Tymoshenko also stated that the audio recordings published by NABU are falsified.

According to the MP, she never offered money to other parliamentarians for voting.

Does reducing the bail mean closing the case

Reducing the bail amount does not mean closing the criminal proceedings or declaring the person innocent.

Bail is one of the preventive measures provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Its amount may change by court decision in accordance with the circumstances of the proceedings and the results of consideration of the relevant petition.

The notice of the court hearing does not provide the reasons why the judge justified such a significant reduction in bail.

Criminal proceedings regarding the alleged bribery of people’s deputies should not be equated with proving guilt.

According to the principle of the presumption of innocence, a person is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by law and confirmed by a final court verdict of conviction.
