German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful stated that Ukrainian men of draft age who are in Germany should return to Ukraine. Berlin is also ready to help the Ukrainian side establish the whereabouts of such citizens.
According to the head of the German Foreign Ministry, the country’s authorities have information about Ukrainians who live in Germany, are registered there, receive social benefits or have residence permits.
Germany is ready to transfer information to Ukraine
Wadeful stated that Berlin is ready to provide the Ukrainian side with relevant information to help Kyiv identify men of draft age who are currently in Germany.
At the same time, the above message does not refer to the introduction of a new mechanism for the forced return of Ukrainians or a specific procedure for transferring such citizens to Ukraine.
Berlin wants more Ukrainian orders for the German defense industry
The minister also raised the issue of Ukraine’s procurement of weapons. According to him, Kyiv should more actively involve German manufacturers in defense procurement.
Germany will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, but Berlin expects its own defense industry to participate more in Ukrainian orders.
Wadeful noted that the current volume of orders coming to German companies does not fully satisfy Berlin.
Earlier, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamysz also called on Ukrainian men of military age to return home. He stated that such citizens should join the defense of Ukraine.
