Hetmansev after the attack on Zaporizhia: ensuring peace is the top issue on the agenda

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, stated the need to stop the war and called ensuring peace a priority issue on the agenda.

The MP wrote about this in his Telegram, commenting on the consequences of the Russian attack on Zaporizhia and the human losses.

“The war must be stopped”

Hetmantsev drew attention to the increasingly severe human and economic consequences of the Russian attacks.

“Unfortunately, the war is becoming more bloody and destructive. I know that we will survive. But it must be stopped. Ensuring peace is the first issue on the agenda,” the MP wrote.

At the same time, the parliamentarian did not specify in what way, in his opinion, the end of the war should be achieved and under what conditions peace can be achieved.

The statement was made after the Russian attack

The reason for Hetmantsev’s post was the reports of the severe consequences of the Russian attack on Zaporizhia.

The MP expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.

He also drew attention to the economic consequences of Russian strikes on Ukrainian industrial facilities.

What does Hetmantsev’s statement mean?

The statement by one of the representatives of the parliamentary majority attracts attention primarily because of the formulation that ensuring peace should become “the very first issue on the agenda.”

At the same time, Hetmantsev’s words should not be automatically interpreted as an official change in the position of the Verkhovna Rada or the Ukrainian authorities in general. This is about the public position of an individual MP.

Similarly, in his message, he did not talk about specific compromises, territorial concessions, or other possible conditions for the cessation of hostilities.

However, the statement demonstrates that the issue of ways to end the war and ensure peace is increasingly being raised in the Ukrainian political space.
