A new toponymic name has appeared in the center of Kyiv – a thoroughfare in honor of Andriy Parubiy. The Kyiv City Council made the corresponding decision, giving the name of the politician to the nameless thoroughfare located between Mariinsky Park and house No. 9 on Mykhayla Hrushevskoho Street.
This is a small but iconic location in the government quarter of the capital, next to key state institutions. Thousands of Kyiv residents and guests of the city pass here every day, which gives the new name a special symbolism.
The decision to name it was supported by the deputies of the City Council. As deputy Maryna Poroshenko noted, naming Andriy Parubiy is a tribute to his contribution to the formation of Ukrainian statehood and the development of parliamentarism.
According to her, the name of the politician is inextricably linked with the struggle for Ukraine’s independence, the protection of national interests and the consistent establishment of the European course of the state.
Andriy Parubiy is one of the key figures of modern Ukrainian politics, who played an important role in the formation of the parliamentary system and democratic institutions. A new toponym in the center of the capital is designed to capture his contribution to the history of Ukraine and remind us of the values of freedom for which the struggle has been and continues to be fought.
