In the Bucha district, law enforcement officers reported suspicions to the deputy mayor, who is suspected of embezzling budget funds during the restoration of residential buildings damaged as a result of hostilities. According to the investigation, the official could have overstated the cost of repair work, which led to millions in losses for the budget.

As investigators established, after the deoccupation of Bucha, the defendant concluded contracts for the major repair of the roofs of five apartment buildings. During the work, inflated prices for construction materials were entered into the estimate documentation, and budget funds were transferred to the contractor based on the acts signed by the official.

According to the conclusions of the examinations, the state suffered losses in the amount of more than 3 million 164 thousand hryvnias.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Operational support in the case is provided by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

If found guilty, the official faces up to 12 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions and confiscation of property.
