The family of former judge of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine Volodymyr Karaban has significantly expanded its assets in recent years, which may exceed $2.5 million. This is stated in the investigation of journalists Bihus.Info.

According to investigators, the family’s assets include elite real estate in Kyiv and the suburbs, premium cars, as well as dozens of parking spaces in the capital’s residential complexes.

In particular, after his resignation, the ex-judge himself became the owner of an apartment in the center of Kyiv in the Lvivska Ploshcha residential complex and a parking space in the Forward residential complex. He also uses a Volkswagen Touareg SUV registered to a relative of his ex-wife.

The journalists’ special attention was drawn to the fleet of cars and real estate of family members and close associates of the judicial dynasty, including numerous objects registered to relatives.

In particular, the family of the nephew of the former judge, current judge Vladyslav Sulim, has purchased dozens of parking spaces in the capital’s residential complexes in recent years, which may indicate significant hidden assets. According to journalists, this part of the property alone may be worth more than $500,000.

The investigation also mentions the family’s father-in-law, former judge Ivan Fedorov, who became the owner of an elite house in a cottage town near Kyiv, as well as a number of real estate objects in the capital’s residential complexes.

Separately, journalists draw attention to the assets of other family members, including apartments, premium cars, and property issued as gifts or inheritances.

In their comments, those involved in the investigation declare the legality of the origin of the property and its acquisition at the expense of their own income and savings.

The Bihus.Info material raises the issue of the transparency of the income of judicial families and the effectiveness of financial control mechanisms in the judicial system of Ukraine.
