Khmara suggested Fedorov return to working together: no response yet

Defense Minister Yevgeny Khmara said that he had suggested to his predecessor Mykhailo Fedorov to find a format for continuing joint work on projects of the Ministry of Defense. The former minister was not offered a specific position, and Khmara has not yet received a response from him.

Defense Minister Yevgeny Khmara said this during a conversation with journalists.

According to him, the corresponding conversation with Mykhailo Fedorov took place back in July.

“I suggested finding any model or format for continuing joint work on projects,” Khmara said.

At the same time, the minister clarified that it was not about appointing Fedorov to any specific position.

So far, according to Khmara, he has not received any feedback from the former head of the Ministry of Defense.

Khmara wants to keep Fedorov’s team

The new head of the Ministry of Defense also announced his intention to keep the department’s team as much as possible.

This, according to him, is necessary to ensure the continuity of work and the continuation of projects that have already been launched at the Ministry of Defense.

In parallel, Khmara plans to strengthen a number of areas of the ministry’s work.

In particular, one of the priorities should be the defense-industrial complex and exports. It is planned to appoint Hanna Gvozdiar as the deputy minister responsible for this area.

The Ministry of Defense will strengthen the digital area

Separate personnel decisions are being prepared for the digital transformation of the Ministry of Defense.

According to Khmara, a candidate with combat experience and experience working directly in the department is being considered for the relevant position.

Another area that is planned to be strengthened will be cognitive warfare. The candidate for work in this area, as the minister reported, has already been selected.

Thus, after the change in the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, Khmara declares a course to retain part of the previous team and simultaneously strengthen the defense-industrial, digital and information areas.

Previously, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that, amid the conflict between then-Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky, Fedorov had suggested to the head of state that they both be fired.
