President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada draft laws on the extension of martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days. It is expected that the relevant restrictions will be in effect until January 29, 2027.

The relevant draft laws were registered in the Verkhovna Rada on October 26, 2026 under numbers No. 16183 and No. 16182.

The documents provide for the approval of the presidential decrees on the extension of martial law and general mobilization.

Until what date is martial law planned to be extended

Currently, martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine are in effect until 05:30 on October 31, 2026.

The President proposes to extend them for another 90 days — until January 29, 2027.

It is expected that the Verkhovna Rada will consider the relevant legislative initiatives on Monday, October 26.

At the same time, at the time of the report, the texts of the draft laws had not yet been published on the official parliamentary portal.

How decisions will be made

To extend martial law and general mobilization, the Verkhovna Rada must support the draft laws approving the relevant presidential decrees.

After adoption by the parliament and signing by the president, the laws will come into force in accordance with the established procedure.

This will be the 21st vote of the Verkhovna Rada on the extension of martial law and general mobilization since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Has martial law been extended permanently

As of the morning of October 26, we are talking about the president’s submission of draft laws, and not about the final decision of the parliament.

Therefore, the extension of martial law and mobilization requires a corresponding vote of the Verkhovna Rada.

If the documents are approved, their validity will be extended until January 29, 2027.
