Non-working military pensioners in Ukraine can receive a monthly allowance for disabled family members who are dependent on them. In 2026, the amount of such payment is 1297.50 hryvnias per dependent. However, a number of conditions must be met for its assignment.

The right to the allowance is provided for by the Law of Ukraine No. 2262-XII “On Pension Provision for Persons Discharged from Military Service and Certain Other Persons”.

How much can be paid to a military pensioner

The amount of the allowance is 50% of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work for each disabled family member who is dependent on the pensioner.

In 2026, this is 1297.50 hryvnias per month for one dependent.

Accordingly, if a military pensioner supports two disabled family members and all the conditions for assigning the payment are met, the total amount of the allowance can be 2,595 hryvnias per month.

Who is entitled to the allowance

The allowance is provided for military pensioners who:

do not work and do not engage in entrepreneurial activity;

receive a pension for long service or in connection with disability;
have disabled family members in their care.

At the same time, the mere fact of having a disabled relative is not enough.

It is important that the family member for whom the allowance is issued does not receive his own pension or social benefits specified by law.

In particular, the allowance is not assigned for a relative who already receives a pension from the solidarity system, state social assistance or relevant payments for persons with disabilities.

The restrictions also apply to the military pensioner himself. To receive such an allowance, he must be unemployed.

How to apply for a supplement

To apply for a supplement, you must contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine. You can do this in person at the PFU service center or remotely via the Pension Fund’s electronic services web portal.

The applicant may need documents confirming:

the identity of the pensioner;
family ties;
the fact of cohabitation;
the fact of a dependent disabled family member;
the absence of relevant income or payments;
the pensioner’s unemployment.

Before applying to the PFU, it is worth checking whether the family member meets all the requirements for the appointment of a supplement, since the presence of another pension or certain state assistance may be grounds for refusal.

What other supplements can pensioners receive

Separately, in Ukraine, there are age-related compensation payments for pensioners over 70 years of age.

Their receipt depends on age and the total amount of the pension payment. In 2026, age allowances may range from 300 to 570 hryvnias per month, provided that established criteria are met.
