Military personnel are offered to be paid at least $2,000 per month: what the NSU says

The basic monetary support of Ukrainian servicemen should be reviewed taking into account the increase in prices and the decrease in the purchasing power of money. The minimum payment could be about $2,000 per month.

This opinion was expressed by Sergeant of the Svoboda Battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine Vladyslav Pervukhin.

He emphasized that this is precisely his proposal regarding the level of monetary support, and not about the already adopted decision to increase payments.

Why are the military talking about increasing payments

According to Pervukhin, additional payments for performing special and combat missions are an important part of monetary support, but they do not resolve the issue of the size of the basic payment.

The military drew attention to the fact that the purchasing power of the same amount in hryvnias has changed significantly compared to the beginning of a full-scale war.

He gave an example of payments of 120 thousand hryvnias: in 2022, a serviceman could purchase significantly more goods for this money than in 2026.

That is why Pervukhin believes that the basic cash allowance needs to be reviewed in accordance with economic realities.

How much is proposed to be paid

When asked about a fair minimum level of payments to military personnel, Pervukhin named an amount of about $2,000.

In his opinion, focusing on such an amount would allow taking into account the change in the value of money and avoid a situation where nominal payments remain unchanged against the backdrop of rising prices.

What will happen to combat payments

The NSU sergeant believes that additional payments to military personnel for performing tasks in combat areas should be preserved.

At the same time, in his opinion, the circle of military personnel entitled to such additional payments could be expanded.

Currently, there is no official decision to establish the minimum cash allowance for military personnel at the level of $2,000. The announced amount is a proposal by a military personnel to revise the current payment system.
