The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that the current transformation of the mobilization and military service system is actually the only chance for comprehensive changes during the war.

Deputy Defense Minister Mstislav Banik reported this during a briefing. According to him, the reform has not stopped and work is currently underway on its first stage, while the next one is being prepared in parallel.

“In order to carry out this reform, we have only one chance. There will be no other mobilization reform in this war, there will be no other salary or deferral reform,” the official emphasized.

The Ministry of Defense notes that the main goal of the changes is to create clear service rules, a fairer system of financial support, and new contract conditions for servicemen.

Commenting on the issue of increasing payments for servicemen in the rear to 30 thousand hryvnias, Banik admitted that the department would like to provide an even higher level of remuneration, but currently decisions are made taking into account the real budgetary capabilities of the state.

The Ministry of Defense also emphasized that the new contract system will provide for an increase in the terms of deferment after the end of service, depending on the combat experience and the total period of service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to representatives of the department, servicemen who have participated in combat operations the longest will receive the greatest guarantees of rest and deferment after the end of the contract.
