Mykola Shvydkyi appointed Acting Deputy Minister of Defense: he will be responsible for interaction with the General Staff

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the appointment of Mykola Shvydky as Deputy Acting Minister of Defense Yevheniy Khmara. One of his key tasks will be to strengthen interaction between the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff and the military command.

As noted by the Ministry of Defense, the newly appointed deputy will coordinate practical work between the defense department, the General Staff and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense Yevheniy Khmara, the decisions of the ministry should be made taking into account the real situation on the front and the needs of combat units.

“The decisions of the Ministry of Defense should be as close as possible to the real situation on the front, the needs of combat units and the tasks facing the Defense Forces. For this, constant work in brigades and units on the front line is important,” the ministry noted.

The department also emphasized that the leadership of the Ministry of Defense should receive information about the situation in the troops directly from the servicemen in order to respond more quickly to the needs of the Defense Forces.

The appointment of Mykola Shvydkyi came amid statements about the need to strengthen coordination between the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff.
