NABU and SAPO exposed SBU officials and a lawyer in a $110,000 bribe

NABU detectives, together with prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, exposed officials of the Security Service of Ukraine and a lawyer in the receipt of illegal benefits. The event took place on April 27, 2026.

According to the investigation, the head of the investigative department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Poltava region, his subordinate and a lawyer demanded 110 thousand US dollars from the owner of the enterprise. For this money, they promised to ensure the conclusion of a plea agreement in criminal proceedings.

This is a case under Part 4 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – carrying out economic activities in cooperation with an aggressor state. In particular, the investigation established the facts of supplying equipment to the Russian Federation through shell companies registered in Kazakhstan.

Law enforcement officers detained the defendants immediately after receiving the second part of the illegal benefits in the amount of 55 thousand US dollars.

Currently, priority investigative actions are underway aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the criminal offense and possible accomplices.

At the same time, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilt.
