NBU presented a new coin in honor of Ukrainian gunsmiths

The National Bank of Ukraine has introduced a new commemorative coin with a denomination of 5 hryvnias, dedicated to the workers of the defense-industrial complex.

The presentation was held by Deputy Chairman of the NBU Oleksiy Shaban. He emphasized that today a significant part of the weapons used on the front is produced in Ukraine, and this figure is constantly growing.

Design: from tradition to technology

The coin is called “The Country of Superheroes. Thank you to the gunsmiths!” and is made of nickel silver.

The obverse depicts a Ukrainian embroidery ornament, which smoothly transitions into a digital pixel – a symbol of combining national traditions with modern technologies. The reverse depicts a Ukrainian gunsmith working on the creation of a drone, personifying the contribution of engineers to the defense of the state.

Circulation and start of sales

The circulation of the coin is up to 75 thousand copies. It will be available for purchase in May at the official online store of numismatic products of the NBU, as well as at distributing banks.

The new coin has become another sign of gratitude to Ukrainian gunsmiths, who, even in extremely difficult conditions, ensure the development of the defense industry and strengthen the country’s security.
