President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Decree No. 333/2026 on the appointment of Oleksandr Balanutsa as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The relevant document is dated April 22, 2026.

According to the decree, the diplomat will perform his duties part-time – in parallel with his work as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Arab Emirates. This format of appointment is a common practice in the Ukrainian diplomatic service and allows for effective representation of the interests of the state in several countries of the region at the same time.

Balanutsa’s appointment is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s diplomatic presence in the Persian Gulf region, as well as developing bilateral relations with Bahrain. This includes, in particular, expanding economic cooperation, investment projects and political dialogue.

It is expected that the new diplomatic mandate will contribute to the intensification of contacts between Kyiv and Manama, as well as strengthening Ukraine’s positions in the international arena.
