One candidate dropped out: The Ethics Council continues the selection for the Supreme Judicial Council

The Ethics Council will hold new interviews with candidates for the position of member of the High Council of Justice under the Verkhovna Rada quota on September 9. This time, Olga Ostapenko and Igor Bilyk are to undergo evaluation. At the same time, one of the candidates has decided to stop participating in the competition.

Who is undergoing interviews

The agenda of the Ethics Council meeting included interviews with two candidates:

Olga Ostapenko;

Igor Bilyk.

In addition, the meeting is to determine the dates of the next interviews with candidates for the position of member of the High Council of Justice from the Verkhovna Rada.

Candidate Olena Osipova has meanwhile stopped participating in the competition at her own request.

Three candidates have already undergone evaluation

Three candidates have already undergone interviews with the Ethics Council on September 7.

Among them is Valentyna Senyk, who is applying for membership in the High Council of Justice for the second time. In 2025, she participated in the competition under the President’s quota. At that time, the Ethics Council, in particular, studied the issues of her administrative responsibility and land plot.

Nataliya Savinova also underwent a re-evaluation. During the interview, the previous negative conclusion of the Ethics Council was discussed, which the candidate did not dispute.

The interview turned into a dispute

The most acute was the re-interview of Mykola Kucheryavenko.

A dispute arose during the conversation with the Ethics Council. The candidate called some of the questions asked of him inadequate, and at the end he suggested renaming the interview an “interrogation”.

A new meeting of the Ethics Council is scheduled for September 9 at 12:00.
