One-year deferment after service: a new guarantee has been introduced for contract workers aged 18–25

Servicemen aged 18–25, who serve under a one-year contract, receive a guaranteed deferment from conscription for a period of 12 months after their discharge. This was announced by the Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov.

As noted, the relevant mechanism has already been approved by the government and is fully implemented in practice. The Ministry of Defense worked on the implementation of the norm together with the parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.

The deferment is granted automatically after the contract ends. During this period, re-conscription is possible only with the voluntary consent of the serviceman.
