In Kyiv, a court found the organizer of an underground casino and two of his accomplices guilty of illegal gambling. According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the establishment operated in the center of the capital during 2023–2024 and specialized in organizing poker games without an appropriate license.
The court found that the defendants acted in accordance with a prior conspiracy, independently equipped the premises and ensured the functioning of an illegal gambling establishment. Their actions were qualified under Part 3 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 203-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The organizer received a fine of UAH 799,000, and his accomplices – UAH 765,000 each. In addition, the court decided to confiscate more than USD 20,000 received from illegal activities. The pre-trial investigation was carried out by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine.
The total amount of financial sanctions exceeded UAH 2.3 million. The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that such sentences are an important signal about the inevitability of responsibility for organizing an illegal gambling business.
