The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure for medical care of prosecutors and their family members from the state budget. At the same time, the draft budget for 2027 provides for an increase in funding for prosecutors’ bodies by more than 2.5 billion hryvnias. Total expenditures may reach 21.1 billion hryvnias. Treatment of prosecutors and their families will be paid from the budget

According to the published information, the government has approved the procedure for financing medical care of prosecutors’ employees and their family members.

The corresponding expenses will be covered by the budget allocations of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

This means that medical services for certain categories of persons will be financed from the state budget in accordance with the approved procedure.

At the same time, the specific list of medical services, the conditions for their receipt and possible restrictions need to be clarified according to the text of the government resolution.

Prosecutor’s Office funding to be increased by 2.5 billion hryvnias

According to information released by Mykola Tomenko, the draft state budget for 2027 provides for an increase in expenditures for prosecutor’s offices.

This is an additional 2 billion 532 million hryvnias.

If the relevant indicators are approved, the total amount of funding for the prosecutor’s office will be 21 billion 146 million hryvnias.

Thus, the planned increase is approximately 13.6% compared to the base amount given in the message.

According to the source, the additional funds are related not only to medical care, but also to the revision of the salaries of prosecutor’s office employees.

Important: 2.532 billion hryvnias is the declared total increase in prosecutor’s office funding, and not a separate amount that is planned to be spent exclusively on the treatment of prosecutors and their families.

The decision has drawn criticism

Public figure Mykola Tomenko criticized the introduction of additional budget financing of medical services for prosecutors.

He linked the government’s decision to previous scandals surrounding the registration of disability by individual employees of the prosecutor’s office.

In his opinion, the provision of such guarantees requires public discussion, especially in conditions of limited budgetary resources.

At the same time, this assessment is the position of a public figure, and not an officially established reason for the adoption of the government’s decision.

Have the additional billions been finally approved

At the moment, we are talking about the indicators of the draft state budget for 2027.

The final amount of financing for the prosecutor’s office will depend on the adoption of the state budget by the Verkhovna Rada.

At the same time, the approval by the Cabinet of Ministers of the procedure for medical care and the determination of budget allocations are separate decisions.

Thus, the government has already determined the procedure for financing medical services, but the final expenditures of the prosecutor’s office for 2027 have yet to go through the budget procedure.

Recall that during the preparation of the state budget for 2027, parliamentarians also propose to increase funding for social support, assistance to internally displaced persons, and frontline communities.
