Over UAH 565 million allocated for housing for IDPs: who will have priority

Ukraine has increased funding for housing for internally displaced persons. The volume of subventions to local budgets has increased from 1 billion to over 1.56 billion hryvnias. Communities will be able to use additional funds to purchase buildings and equip housing for displaced persons.

An additional 565.2 million hryvnias will be allocated to the program. The funds should help create new places for IDPs to live, particularly in rural areas.

What can the funds be spent on

Communities will be able to use the funding for:

purchase of buildings;

equipping temporary residences;

creating and expanding temporary and supported housing funds.

The government has also changed the procedure for distributing funds. Communities that previously did not have time to apply for funding or need additional money were given the opportunity to apply for them during 2026.

Who will have the priority right to housing

Using the subvention, local authorities are forming temporary and supported housing funds for internally displaced persons.

The following are given priority to receive such housing:

families with many children;

people with disabilities;

families raising children with disabilities;

orphans and persons deprived of parental care;

elderly people.

The government has also previously launched a separate project to provide housing for displaced people in rural areas. The increased funding should allow communities to create more places for IDPs to live.
