A new political scandal surrounding Ukraine has erupted in Poland. The Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm and one of the leaders of the far-right Confederation party, Krzysztof Bosak, made a sharp statement, calling on official Warsaw to block Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and to apply tough political and economic pressure on Kyiv.

The reason for the loud statement was the decision of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to award the honorary title “named after the Heroes of the UPA” to the Separate Special Operations Center “North”. It was this decree that caused a wave of criticism among Polish right-wing politicians, who traditionally react harshly to any mention of the UPA.

“Real pressure on Ukraine is needed”

Krzysztof Bosak said that Poland must completely reconsider its policy towards Ukraine and move from diplomatic statements to concrete actions.

In his opinion, Warsaw should openly declare its blocking of Ukraine’s European integration until Kyiv “departs from the cult of criminals” and allows all exhumations of the victims of the Volyn tragedy.

Moreover, the Polish politician called for the use of financial leverage. In particular, he proposed to stop paying for the Starlink satellite communication, which is actively used by the Ukrainian military on the front.

– If we want to put real pressure on Ukraine, we need to move on to more specific gestures that will have an effective impact, – said Bosak during a broadcast on Polish radio.

“Warsaw is considered weak”

The Deputy Speaker of the Sejm also sharply criticized the current policy of the Polish authorities towards Kyiv. According to him, Warsaw’s soft position allegedly created a situation in which the Ukrainian side “is not afraid of any reaction”.

– They are considered weak. They think they can afford any provocation, and it will not meet with any reaction, – the Polish politician emphasized.

Bosak’s statements have already caused a wide resonance in the Polish and Ukrainian media. Against the background of the war and the strategic partnership between Kyiv and Warsaw, historical disputes are once again becoming an instrument of political pressure and internal struggle of the Polish right-wing forces.
