Veterans want to be given the opportunity to earn from combat experience

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the preparation of legislation on the creation of Ukrainian private military companies. According to the head of state, the relevant law should be developed and adopted this year.

The initiative provides for the creation of mechanisms for the so-called “security export”, which will allow Ukrainian veterans and military personnel to legally use their combat experience in the field of international security services.

Zelensky: Ukrainian soldier has unique experience

The president emphasized that after the war, the Ukrainian military will have one of the most valuable combat experiences in the world.

“The whole world sees that the Ukrainian soldier is truly strong and experienced. Our security export after this war should become a real business opportunity for veterans,” Zelensky said.

According to him, this will become not only support for veterans, but also a new direction of development for the state.

The draft law is already being prepared

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ukrainian intelligence, government officials and the team of the President’s Office are involved in developing the legislative framework.

Zelensky instructed to prepare an optimal model for the functioning of Ukrainian private military companies and ensure the adoption of the law in 2026.

Ukraine wants to become a player in the global security market

The President emphasized that leading countries in the world are already actively using private military companies and other security structures to work for their citizens abroad.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine must also form its own state response to the global demand for security and military services.

What the new law may change

If the document is adopted, a legal mechanism for the operation of private military companies may appear in Ukraine, which will allow veterans to officially work in the field of security, consulting, personnel training and international security projects.
