Prosecutor General Kravchenko reported suspicions to NABU Director Semen Kryvonos

Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced that he had signed a notice of suspicion against the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Semen Kryvonos. According to him, this concerns, in particular, the forgery of official documents in order to obtain an illegal benefit in a particularly large amount.

Kravchenko announced this in a video message published on social networks.

What is the NABU Director Suspected of

According to the Prosecutor General, the notice of suspicion against Semen Kryvonos concerns, in particular, the possible forgery of official documents in order to obtain an illegal benefit in a particularly large amount.

Kravchenko also announced another suspicion — against a person whom he called close to the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Oleksandr Klymenko. According to him, this person is suspected of influencing judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court, offering them illegal benefits, and facilitating mobilization evasion.

Later, Kravchenko reported that information about Kryvonos’ suspicion had already been registered in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, and the corresponding notification had been sent in accordance with the procedure prescribed by law.

Kravchenko announced that NABU and SAPO had access to case materials

In his address, the Prosecutor General also commented on the special operation “Carthage”.

According to Kravchenko, the purpose of the operation was allegedly to gain access to the materials of criminal proceedings that concerned the heads and employees of NABU and SAPO, as well as to further remove the Prosecutor General and stop the adoption of procedural decisions in these cases.

He claims that during searches of the office premises of the Prosecutor General’s Office, representatives of NABU and SAPO gained access to protected materials of the proceedings, some of which, according to him, were copied and stolen.

Zelenskyy called on the Rada to support Kravchenko’s resignation

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the Prosecutor General’s statements. He called on the people’s deputies to immediately support Kravchenko’s dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General.

The President stated that there is only one way out for Kravchenko – dismissal, and called on the parliament to support the appropriate decision.

Earlier, on September 7, Ruslan Kravchenko announced that he had submitted his resignation, calling his decision political.

What is known about the “Carthage” operation

On September 4, the NABU and the SAPO reported the exposure of a criminal organization in the Prosecutor General’s Office as part of the “Carthage” special operation.

According to the investigation, UCP officials are suspected of systematically receiving bribes for the so-called “covering” of fraudulent call centers and legalizing tens of millions of hryvnias. Suspicions in the case were announced for five people.

Ruslan Kravchenko himself previously denied accusations of involvement in possible schemes and stated that the recordings of conversations made public in court do not prove his guilt.
