In wartime, one of the key risks of legalizing weapons is the psychological state of the population. According to the expert, the scale of the problem is significantly underestimated.

“Every second person who turns to psychologists already has post-traumatic stress disorder,” Vasyl Vovk noted.

This is not only about the military, but also about civilians who live in constant stress.

The “social contract” has been violated

In an exclusive comment for Femida.ua, the expert also drew attention to a deeper problem — the loss of trust in the state.

“There is a social contract: the state has a monopoly on force and provides protection. But if it does not do this, people begin to defend themselves,” he explained.

In his opinion, this is what led to the actual “self-arming” of the population.

The illegal market as a reality

He emphasized that weapons are already widely available outside the law.

“We have these weapons on every corner. It doesn’t need to be legalized — it already exists,” the expert said.

In such a situation, legalization can only increase chaos, not solve the problem.
