Radina: after the attack on NABU and SAPO, no one was held accountable, one of the prosecutors even received an apartment

A year has passed since the high-profile attack on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), but none of the law enforcement officers involved in these events have been held accountable. Moreover, one of the prosecutors, according to MP Anastasia Radina, even received an official apartment.

This was stated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy, MP from the Servant of the People faction Anastasia Radina in an interview with the Coffee Break project on Shelter.

According to her, officials of the State Bureau of Investigation, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Security Service of Ukraine who participated in last year’s campaign against anti-corruption agencies or publicly justified these actions still remain in their positions.

“A year ago, there was an attack on anti-corruption agencies – and no one has been punished. People in the State Bureau of Investigation, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) who carried out this attack with their own hands, as well as those who publicly justified it with their faces, are still working. Moreover, one prosecutor, this is a fact that we know about, even received an official apartment,” said Radina.

At the same time, she noted that the only high-ranking official who left his post after those events was the former head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk. However, according to the deputy, this was not a punishment for his role in the events surrounding the NABU and the SAPO.

Radina recalled that it was Malyuk who, during a press conference, stated that the Russian special services allegedly infiltrated the NABU. However, according to the deputy, these statements were later not confirmed.

She also emphasized that the NABU and the SAPO did not ignore this story, and the question of the circumstances of last year’s events remains relevant.

What preceded the conflict

On July 22, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Bill No. 12414 with amendments that actually limited the independence of the NABU and the SAPO, expanding the powers of the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the activities of these anti-corruption bodies.

The decision caused a large-scale public outcry. Mass “cardboard protests” took place in various cities of Ukraine, and Ukraine’s international partners expressed harsh criticism of such legislative changes.

Already on July 31, 2025, the parliament adopted Presidential Bill No. 13533, which fully restored the institutional and procedural independence of the NABU and the SAPO. 331 people’s deputies voted for the corresponding decision.

Before the vote on the scandalous law, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted more than 70 searches of NABU and SAPO employees. NABU itself stated that some of the investigative actions were carried out without court orders.

After that, the SBU reported suspicions to five employees of the bureau. Some of them were indicted for high treason. In particular, Ruslan Maghamedrasulov, the head of the NABU interregional department for Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, is suspected of collaborating with the aggressor state.
