Russia plans to mobilize another 600,000 people over two years — Khmara

Russia is considering the possibility of conducting new waves of mobilization and may involve about 600 thousand people in the war against Ukraine during this and the next year.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yevgeny Khmara during a conversation with journalists.

According to him, the Russian leadership is considering the possibility of mobilizing about 300 thousand people this year and the same number next year.

“Russia is considering the possibility of an additional wave of mobilization: to involve another 300 thousand people this year and another 300 thousand next year. This is a reaction to Russia’s problems in the war, the constant increase in losses at the front,” Khmara noted.

The minister emphasized that only the realization that Russia is starting to lose the war can stop Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“This can only be done by force — and only effectively,” he said.

Russia’s goal is not limited to Donbas

According to Khmara, the Kremlin’s strategic goals are not limited to the capture of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Russia seeks to establish control over all of Ukraine, so for the Ukrainian state this war is of an existential nature.

It was previously reported that the Russian Federation may be preparing a large-scale mobilization campaign for several hundred thousand people. In particular, in the fall, Russia may try to mobilize about 300 thousand people.

The mobilized people may be used to replenish Russian units in the Donbas or to form forces for offensive operations in other directions, in particular in northern Ukraine.

There has also been information about an inspection of the Russian military infrastructure on the eve of a possible new wave of mobilization. Special commissions are inspecting training grounds and other military facilities, assessing their readiness to accept a significant number of recruits.
