The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Japan’s ambassador to Moscow, Akira Muto, to express an official protest over the cooperation of Japanese businesses with Ukraine in the field of unmanned technologies.

According to Bloomberg, the reason was the investment of the Japanese company Terra Drone in a Ukrainian drone developer. Moscow called such actions “openly hostile”, given Ukraine’s use of drones in the war against Russia.

At the same time, Terra Drone emphasizes that it is about the development of interceptor drones, which can significantly strengthen air defense systems. The founder and CEO of the company, Tooru Tokushige, emphasized that Ukraine does not need post-war promises, but immediate support to scale up production.

The company also noted that cooperation with Ukraine is of strategic importance for Japan, given the security challenges from Russia and China, as well as the unique combat experience of the Ukrainian side.
