Turkey plans to receive some of the Russian diesel fuel, which, according to Moscow, is returning to world markets after agreements with US President Donald Trump. Ankara called these supplies important for the country’s energy security.

According to the minister, Russia has been limiting diesel fuel exports in recent months due to internal problems. However, after the announced agreements with the United States, the situation began to change.

Bayraktar reported that Turkey has held negotiations, as a result of which it expects to receive some of the Russian diesel.

At the same time, the minister did not specify the volumes of future deliveries, the timing of their start and financial conditions.

What is known about the agreements between Russia and the US

On October 15, the Kremlin said that Russian diesel fuel began to return to international markets after agreements were reached with US President Donald Trump.

However, the details of these agreements, in particular the possible export volumes, supply mechanisms and terms of fuel sales, were not publicly disclosed.

Currently, information about the agreement is based on statements from the Russian and Turkish sides. There is no independent confirmation of its specific terms in the above reports.

Why is Turkey interested in Russian diesel

Turkey remains one of the largest consumers of imported energy resources and meets part of its needs through supplies from Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan and other countries.

At the same time, Ankara is trying to diversify its energy supply sources, in particular through cooperation with the United States.

Obtaining additional volumes of diesel fuel could help the country expand its ability to supply the domestic market with petroleum products.

At the same time, it is not yet known how the announced agreements will affect international diesel prices and the balance of fuel supply in the region.

Turkey is increasing its own gas production in the Black Sea

At the same time, Ankara continues to implement projects to increase its own natural gas production.

The Minister of Energy announced that in the first quarter of 2028, Turkey plans to put into operation a second floating gas production platform.

According to the Turkish side, after its launch, the daily volume of natural gas production in the Black Sea could reach 45 million cubic meters.
