Russian strike destroys UNICEF humanitarian warehouse in Kyiv region: aid worth almost $4 million lost

The Russian attack on the Kyiv region destroyed the humanitarian warehouse of UNICEF, which stored supplies of aid for children and families affected by the war. The total value of destroyed humanitarian cargo is about 3.9 million US dollars.

The warehouse was hit near Kyiv

According to the organization, on July 19, Russian troops attacked a warehouse in the village of Belogorodka, Kyiv region. As a result of the attack, the facility suffered significant destruction, and the humanitarian supplies intended to support Ukrainian children and their families were completely destroyed.

Currently, experts continue to assess the full extent of the damage.

What help is lost

At the time of the attack, more than 106,000 units of humanitarian aid were stored in the warehouse.

Among the destroyed stocks:

generators;
supplies of drinking water;
hygienic sets;
water storage tanks.

UNICEF emphasized that these resources were critically important for the implementation of humanitarian programs in Ukraine, in particular for supporting children and families in the frontline regions and preparing for the upcoming heating season.

UNICEF called for an end to the attacks

The organization said that systematic attacks on humanitarian infrastructure significantly complicate the delivery of aid to the civilian population.

UNICEF stressed that humanitarian objects and children should be protected by international humanitarian law, and called for an end to attacks on civilian infrastructure.

June became the most tragic month for children

The statement also stated that two children were killed in Ukraine in the last week alone, and at least 50 more were injured.

In addition, June 2026 was the month with the highest number of children affected since the start of full-scale war after 2022. According to UNICEF, during this period, seven children were killed and another 116 were injured.

This is not the first blow to the humanitarian infrastructure

This is not the first case of destruction of humanitarian objects as a result of Russian attacks.

Previously, it was reported about the destruction of the warehouse with HIV prevention products worth more than 2.6 million dollars, as well as the complete destruction of the humanitarian warehouse of the Ukrainian Red Cross, where about 320,000 units of aid and equipment with a total value of more than 79 million hryvnias were stored.

International humanitarian organizations emphasize that attacks on humanitarian infrastructure significantly complicate the provision of assistance to the civilian population, especially residents of the frontline areas.
