The average salary in Ukraine continues to grow. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in May 2026, the average income of Ukrainians was 30,961 hryvnia, which is 1.5% more than in the previous month.

Despite the overall positive dynamics, the gap in the level of wages between different industries and regions remains significant.

Where in Ukraine they pay the most

The highest average salaries are traditionally recorded in Kyiv, where employees receive an average of 47,115 hryvnias per month.

The second place was taken by Kyiv region with an average of 32,374 hryvnias.

In turn, the lowest levels of wages were recorded in:

— Chernivtsi region — 22,354 hryvnias;

— Kirovohrad region — 22,336 hryvnias.

What professions and areas are paid the best

The leader in terms of income remains the information technology and telecommunications sector. The average salary in this sector is 76,997 hryvnias.

According to statistics, the lowest incomes are earned by employees in the healthcare and social assistance sectors – an average of 21,554 hryvnias.

Thus, the difference between the highest and lowest average wages in the sectors exceeds 55 thousand hryvnias.

Wage debts remain significant

At the same time, the State Statistics Service reports that as of June 1, 2026, the total wage arrears in Ukraine amounted to 3.8 billion hryvnias.

Economists note that despite the growth in wages, income inequality between regions and areas of activity remains one of the key challenges for the labor market and social policy of the state.
