Law enforcement officers came to search the University of Culture
On May 7, law enforcement officers conducted searches at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.
Information about the investigative actions was confirmed by the National Police of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers are not disclosing details at this time.
“Details will be released later,” the police reported.
At the center of the investigation is Mykhailo Poplavsky
According to law enforcement officers, one of the main figures in the case is Mykhailo Poplavsky, who has been the head of the university for many years.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on the exposure of a large-scale scheme for embezzling budget funds in particularly large amounts at the institution.
The investigation speaks of “dead souls”
According to the investigation, the university management, in collusion with individual officials of the Ministry of Education, for years entered fictitious students and participants in personnel training programs into official documentation.
It was through the so-called “dead souls”, according to preliminary data, that about 760 million hryvnias of budget funds could have passed through the scheme.
The money could have been converted into cash
The investigation believes that some of the funds were withdrawn into cash and distributed among the participants in the scheme.
Currently, law enforcement officers are continuing their investigative actions and identifying all those involved in the possible embezzlement of budget funds.
