Sibiga arrived in Ireland and named four key decisions that Ukraine expects from the EU

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga arrived in Ireland ahead of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers. Ukraine will call on its partners to strengthen air defense, sanctions pressure on Russia, defense and energy support, and to make progress on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Andriy Sybiga announced his visit on September 2.

The minister noted that the meeting will take place against the backdrop of another wave of intensified Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, civilian infrastructure, and freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.

According to him, such an escalation requires a decisive response from partners, continued support for Ukraine, and steps that will deprive Russia of the resources to continue the war.

What Ukraine will offer the EU

Sybiga named four key areas that he proposes to put on the agenda of the meeting:

strengthening Ukraine’s air and missile defense;

introduction of tougher sanctions and increased pressure on Russia;
additional defense and energy support for Ukraine on the eve of winter;
progress in opening negotiation clusters on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

According to the Foreign Minister, the more opportunities Ukraine receives and the fewer resources Russia has left to wage war, the closer it will be to achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace.

An informal meeting of EU ministers is scheduled for September 3-4 in Dublin.

Earlier, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, reported that during the meeting, representatives of the EU countries will discuss expanding support for Ukraine, in particular, strengthening its air and missile defense.
