The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has scheduled the criminal proceedings against the judge of the Western Appeal Economic Court, Oleh Matuschak, for consideration on the merits. He is accused of illegal enrichment and declaring false information.

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court adopted the corresponding decision on September 28. The first court session in the case is scheduled for October 6, 2026 at 11:30.

Earlier, the judge refused a plea agreement, after which the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office sent the indictment to the court for consideration in the general procedure.

This concerns real estate worth UAH 16.7 million

According to the investigation, during 2020–2023, the judge purchased elite real estate in Lviv – an apartment and a parking space with a total value of UAH 16.7 million.

Law enforcement officials claim that in order to hide assets, the real estate was registered in the name of the judge’s mother-in-law.

According to the NABU and SAPO, Matuschak’s official income and savings did not allow him to purchase property of such value.

In addition, the investigation established that in the declarations for 2022 and 2023, the judge allegedly did not indicate information about the use of rented housing.

What articles incriminate the judges

The case was transferred to court on charges of criminal offenses under Art. 368-5 and Part 2 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This concerns illegal enrichment and declaring false information.

After completing the preparatory stage, the High Criminal Court will proceed directly to considering the indictment and examining the evidence of the parties.

At the same time, assigning a case for consideration does not mean establishing the guilt of the judge – the relevant decision can only be made by the court based on the results of the consideration of the criminal proceedings.
