The driver of a stolen Skoda was detained in Kyiv: he tried to escape from patrol officers

In Kyiv, patrol officers detained a man driving a Skoda car that was wanted after being illegally seized in the Boryspil district. The driver ignored the law enforcement officers’ request to stop and tried to escape.

The incident was reported by the Patrol Police of Ukraine and the Patrol Police of Kyiv.

The stolen Skoda was spotted during patrol

The crews of the capital’s patrol police received a tip-off about a Skoda car that, according to preliminary data, was illegally seized in the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region.

While patrolling the Desnyansky district, inspectors Roman Shyrokan and Ihor Kostomakha noticed a car that matched the description of the wanted man.

The police officers demanded that the driver stop, but the man ignored them and continued driving.

The patrol officers caught up with the car and forced the driver to stop. During the detention, physical force and handcuffs were used on him in accordance with Article 45 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police”.

The driver showed signs of intoxication

According to law enforcement officers, the man showed obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. At the same time, he refused to undergo a medical examination in accordance with the procedure established by law.

As a result, the patrol officers filed several administrative cases against the driver.

In particular, a report under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Offenses – for driving a vehicle while intoxicated or refusing to undergo a relevant examination.

Another report was filed under Part 1 of Article 122-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses – for failure to comply with the police officer’s request to stop.

In addition, the man received a ruling under Part 1 of Article 126 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, since he did not present the necessary documents.

Criminal proceedings have been opened

The patrol officers called an investigative and operational group to the place of detention.

Investigators detained the man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal seizure of a vehicle.

Currently, law enforcement officers call the detainee a probable offender. The final legal assessment of his actions must be provided by the investigation and the court.

The stolen car was quickly found

In this case, operational orientation allowed patrol officers to notice the wanted Skoda directly while on duty.

The driver’s attempt to avoid a stop ended in detention, and in addition to criminal proceedings for illegal seizure of a vehicle, law enforcement officers filed a number of administrative materials.
