Parliament discusses new mechanisms for controlling conscripts who cannot be found by the CCC and the SP

Ukraine may tighten measures against conscripts who evade mobilization or are wanted by the CCC and the SP. Possible innovations include legislative mechanisms for searching for such individuals and even blocking bank accounts.

This was stated in an interview with Apostrophe by Oleksandr Fedienko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.

The CCC complains that people are “impossible to find”

According to the MP, representatives of the CCC and the SP are increasingly reporting problems with finding conscripts. Some men have left Ukraine, others are hiding or are not getting in touch.

“People simply left, hid and can no longer be found. We need to adopt some legislative changes that will help to find such people on the radar,” Fedienko noted.

What changes can be adopted

According to the parliamentarian, the Verkhovna Rada is discussing several areas of change at once:

improving social guarantees for the military;
increasing cash benefits;
defining clear terms of service;
increasing responsibility for those who evade military registration.

One of the most resonant ideas was the possible blocking of bank cards and accounts of persons wanted by the CCC and the SP. However, such an initiative has not yet been adopted at the legislative level.

“There can be no double standards”

Fedienko emphasized that the state must ensure the same rules for all citizens.

In his opinion, it is unfair when some Ukrainians are fighting, while others, being wanted, continue to lead their usual lifestyle without any restrictions.

Can they refuse medical care

Lawyers remind: even if a person is wanted by the CCC and SP, he does not lose the right to emergency medical care.

Doctors do not have the right to check patients’ military registration documents or call the police due to wanted status.

How many people are wanted

Previously, former prosecutor of the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office Yaroslav Zakharchenko reported that about two million conscripts may be wanted in Ukraine.

According to him, the number of violations of military registration rules continues to grow every month.
