The resignation of Prosecutor General Kravchenko has not yet been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada

As of September 9, the Verkhovna Rada has not yet received the resignation of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. At the same time, the relevant parliamentary committee is ready to promptly consider the issue of his dismissal after receiving the relevant submission from the president.

Ruslan Kravchenko announced on September 7 that he had submitted his resignation from the post of Prosecutor General. This happened against the background of the NABU and SAPO investigation into the alleged “covering up” of fraudulent call centers by representatives of the prosecutor’s office.

Kravchenko announced his decision after a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia.

The Rada is ready to consider Kravchenko’s dismissal

Representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Affairs agreed to promptly consider the president’s submission to dismiss Ruslan Kravchenko.

However, in order to begin the relevant parliamentary procedure, the document must officially be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.

What is known about the NABU and SAPO case

On September 5, NABU and SAPO reported the exposure of a criminal organization, which, according to the investigation, was headed by one of the heads of structural units of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Serhiy Kropyva.

The members of the organization are suspected of systematically receiving bribes from fraudulent call centers and legalizing property.

On September 6, the court chose for Kropyva a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting a 120 million UAH bail.

The next day, the High Anti-Corruption Court sent another suspect in the NABU and SAPO “Carthage” case, 24-year-old Elizaveta Ivakhnenko, to custody for 60 days. An alternative was determined for her in the form of a 20 million UAH bail.

Thus, despite Kravchenko’s public statement about his resignation, the parliamentary procedure for his dismissal has not yet begun.
