The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court fined People’s Deputy Serhiy Kuzminykh in the case of abuse of influence

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court imposed a fine on MP Serhiy Kuzminykh within the framework of criminal proceedings on abuse of influence. The decision was made on April 27 at the request of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

Court decision

The court granted the prosecution’s request and imposed a fine in the amount of two subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons – 6,656 hryvnias. This is a procedural penalty applied within the framework of the case.

Circumstances of the proceedings

Previously, detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, together with prosecutors of the SAPO, tried to serve the accused with an indictment. According to the investigation, the MP refused to receive it and threw the documents out of the car. Despite this, the indictment was submitted to the court.

Precautionary measure and charges

Previously, the Supreme Court of Ukraine chose a preventive measure for the Kuzmins in the form of a bail of UAH 49,600 with obligations, including reporting a change of residence, not communicating with witnesses, and surrendering their international passports.

According to the investigation, the MP received UAH 558,000 in illegal benefits for assisting in the conclusion of contracts between private companies and a medical institution in the Zhytomyr region.

The case against Serhiy Kuzmins continues to be considered in the anti-corruption court. The decision to impose a fine is one of the procedural steps within the framework of considering the charges.
